SYNOPSIS
It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980’s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace & liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew, longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl, Sherrie, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock and roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherrie, and the gang save the strip-and themselves- before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer…
CHARACTERS
Drew: Male, An appealing good guy rocker with boyish charm. Works as a bar back at the Bourbon Room waiting for his dreams to come true. Very strong rock tenor voice.
Sherrie: Female, A pretty, innocent Midwestern girl entering a new world to pursue her dreams of stardom in L.A. Strong rock belt
Lonny: Male, The narrator of the piece; charming, mischievous, with a vibrant personality. A slightly unappealing appearance but doesn’t see it. Strong improv skills and rock vocals.
Dennis Dupree: Male, Classic stoner type guy who runs the famous Bourbon Room. Torn about selling the club to the developers. A laid back, easy going dude’s real dude. Bari-tenor rock vocals.
Stacee Jaxx: Male, An oversexed, sexy rock star. At the top of his game, he has left his band to venture out on his own. Arrogant and charming…Strong rock tenor voice.
Justice: Female, Commanding presence, easy sensuality about her. Once a performer, she now operates a strip club. She is a sultry, maternal, and sexy madam. Strong soulful vocals and belt needed.
Hertz Klinemann: Male, An attractive, older gentleman. Uptight, cold, & intimidating businessman trying to buy up the strip. He is our villian and must have a strong German accent. Baritone vocals
Franz Klinemann: Male, Hertz’s floppish son, young German male. Works for his father but not by choice. Shy, gentle with a big heart. Strong vocals and German accent needed.
Regina: Female, A fun, hippie type, tree hugging fighter who will stop at nothing to protect the Sunset Strip. Strong belt vocals.
Plenty of male and female ensemble roles available also requiring strong rock vocals.
